Softball Recap: Brick Memorial Takes a Loss

Brick Memorial extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 10-8 in the process. They fell 4-1 to the Pinelands Regional Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-1 back in April.

As for Pinelands Regional, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.

For Pinelands Regional's part, Elianna Meola spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits. Meola has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pinelands Regional's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cassie Gould, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another was Hannah Theuret, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base.

Coming up, Brick Memorial will welcome Raritan at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Pinelands Regional, they will venture away from home to face off against Southern Regional on Tuesday.
