Softball Recap: Gregory-Portland Has No Trouble Against Miller

After only two runs in their last match, Gregory-Portland made sure to put some runs up on the board against Miller on Friday. The Gregory-Portland Wildcats were the clear victor by a 13-1 margin over the Miller Buccaneers. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Madison Mauricio was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 12 games.

In other batting news, Elizabeth Keith was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Alyssa Padron also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Gregory-Portland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Gregory-Portland's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-6. As for Miller, they dropped their record down to 7-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Gregory-Portland wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 15-1 victory against Ray on the 11th. As for Miller, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-2 loss against King on the 11th.
