Football Game Preview: Paraclete Spirits vs. Oaks Christian Lions + How To Watch

Paraclete hasn't had much luck against Oaks Christian recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Spirits will host the Lions at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Paraclete is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They secured a 54-48 W over Woodrow Wilson. The Spirits' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Joseph Mesa continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 450 yards and seven TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushing for 35 yards. Those 450 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kyle Fulton Jr, who rushed for 106 yards and one touchdown.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Oaks Christian and St. Bonaventure, and Oaks Christian kept the tradition alive. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 16-13 win over the Seraphs on Friday.

One reason for the win was Oaks Christian's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 4.5 sacks. In that department, Deshonne Redeaux was the leader with two. Another thorn in St. Bonaventure's side was Lucas Knoos, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made nine total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed ten in total. All those points came courtesy of Sonny Jones: he added nine points with three field goals and another on an extra-point kick.

Paraclete's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Oaks Christian, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.

Paraclete might still be hurting after the 37-14 defeat they got from Oaks Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2021. Thankfully for the Spirits, Semaj Freeman (who rushed for 134 yards and three scores on only seven carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
