Football Game Preview: Tulia Hornets vs. Childress Bobcats

Tulia hasn't had much luck against Childress recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Tulia has given up an average of 44.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Tulia lost to Dimmitt on the road by a 70-54 margin. Even if the Hornets couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

Despite the defeat, Tulia got top-tier performance from Jacob Trevino, who threw for 531 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 80.5% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Trevino has become a key player for the Hornets: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 250 passing yards, but 0-4 otherwise. Logan Becerra was Trevino's top target, picking up 108 receiving yards and three TDs.

Meanwhile, Childress never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Friona, posting a 52-0 win. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 24 points or more this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Childress and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 26 points in those games. As for Tulia, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Tulia took a serious blow against Childress in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 41-7. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
