Softball Recap: Middle Creek Wins Going Away Against Panther Creek

Middle Creek hadn't beaten Panther Creek on the road since March 18, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Mustangs blew past the Catamounts 14-6. Considering the Mustangs have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Hailey Hoeft made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kennedy Johnson and Tori Gore did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Gore went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Gore a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kristen Norton, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Middle Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Middle Creek is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Panther Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Middle Creek nor Panther Creek have any future games scheduled.
