Basketball Recap: Macie Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cochranton over Mercer

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cochranton can now relate to. They fell just short of the Mercer Mustangs by a score of 41-38 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cardinals have suffered since February 28, 2024.

Cochranton's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Macie Williams, who posted eight points along with five boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Marley Rodax, who put up ten points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Cochranton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 21 consecutive matches.

Cochranton's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Mercer, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.

As of now, neither Cochranton nor Mercer have any future games scheduled.
