Basketball Game Preview: Parkland Mustangs vs. East Forsyth Eagles

The Parkland Mustangs will take on the East Forsyth Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Parkland sitting on eight straight victories and East Forsyth on three.

On Tuesday, Parkland made easy work of R.J. Reynolds and carried off a 70-44 win. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Parkland relied on the efforts of Jordan Fisher, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 steals, and Azari Wilkins, who went 8 for 12 on her way to 22 points and four steals. Those 12 steals gave Fisher a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Asia Blackwell, who posted six points along with ten rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, East Forsyth beat Mount Tabor 57-45 on Tuesday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Spartans are ranked 324th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Parkland better keep an eye on Alyssa Jessup. She was instrumental in East Forsyth's win, going 6 of 9 en route to 17 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. Landry Tsujii was another key player, going 5 for 10 on her way to 11 points and five rebounds.

East Forsyth is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Parkland, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6.
