Softball Recap: Foundation Christian Academy Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grace Christian, Foundation Christian Academy was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They skirted past the Cambridge Christian Lancers 10-8. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Panthers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Makayla Howard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Raegan Goble was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. McKay Barron was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Foundation Christian Academy moved to 6-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Cambridge Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Foundation Christian Academy will venture away from home to square off against Carrollwood Day at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cambridge Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Santa Fe Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
