Football Recap: Westland Takes a Loss

If Westland was feeling good fresh off their 49-0 takedown of Centennial last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars took a 45-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grove City Greyhounds on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 70th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grove City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Blaike Jackson, who rushed for 250 yards and two scores, and also picked up 71 receiving yards and one TD. Owen Steele also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

Westland's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Grove City, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westland will welcome Central Crossing at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Grove City, they will be playing at home against Hilliard Bradley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
