5A Region III District 21 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Port Arthur Memorial extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region III District 21 this week by beating Deer Park, 42-35. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Sterling moved up to 892 from 961 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 28-7 win over the Rangers helped the Rangers improve their standing.
North Shore's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Mustangs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Micah Thomas has thrown for 608 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Kevian DeLeon has nine catches for 270 yards. Tristan Houston leads the league in rushing with 465 yards.
A big matchup in 5A Region III District 21 this week will be when Port Arthur Memorial takes on Channelview. As it stands, Kenny Harrison's team is in first, while the Falcons are in sixth.
North Shore took down Channelview 59-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
