Baseball Recap: Johnsburg's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Johnsburg had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Boylan Catholic Titans. While the Skyhawks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-25), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Deegan Turner made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Johnsburg let Tayden Pinkowski and Dom Vallone run wild. Pinkowski scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Vallone scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Riley Johnson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Johnsburg pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Boylan Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Johnsburg will welcome North Boone at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Boylan Catholic, they will host Sycamore at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
