Softball Recap: Moniteau's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Moniteau dropped their record down to 8-9 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Karns City Gremlins. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Gremlins earlier this season, when they won 11-6.

As for Karns City, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games.

For Karns City's part, Addison Burrows made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. Burrows has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Lyrik Reed was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Ronni Radaker was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Moniteau will host DuBois Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Karns City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
