Football Recap: La Plata Comes Up Short

La Plata extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-6. They were dealt a 47-6 loss at the hands of the Great Mills Hornets. On the bright side, the six- point performance marked the Warriors' highest-scoring contest to date.

As for Great Mills, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Considering they have won three games by more than 27 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kian Bush was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 130 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 40 yards. He has become a key player for Great Mills: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Zhaykahrii Plater, who gained 63 total yards and a touchdown.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. La Plata will head out to take on North Point at 6:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Great Mills, they will venture away from home to challenge Leonardtown at 6:00 p.m. on the 17th.
