Basketball Game Preview: Benton Rangers vs. Carterville Lions

The Benton Rangers will head out on the road to challenge the Carterville Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Benton will be strutting in after a win while Carterville will be coming in after a loss.

Benton is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing DuQuoin: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Benton blew DuQuoin out of the water with a 65-38 final score. The Rangers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Carterville took on Herrin on Friday. Carterville fell 45-32 to Herrin. The Lions have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Benton's victory bumped their record up to 19-2. As for Carterville, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Benton beat Carterville 52-42 when the teams last played last Friday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Benton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
