Recap: Pickering Red Devils vs. Avoyelles Mustangs
This season hasn't been kind to The Pickering Red Devils, who are still winless after their tenth match. They took a serious blow against Avoyelles on Friday, falling 54-6. Pickering was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-0.
It was another big night for Decareyn Sampson, who rushed for 319 yards and five touchdowns on only eight carries. Sampson was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 62 yards. Kevin Jones was another key contributor, rushing for 73 yards and a touchdown.
Pickering's defeat was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 0-10. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.8 points per game. As for Avoyelles, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-7.
Pickering does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Avoyelles will head out on the road to face off against Kinder at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Kinder's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three contests.
