Softball Recap: Pike Liberal Arts Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Pike Liberal Arts had no problem doing just that on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cottonwood Bears a 15-0 shutout.

Mary Holland Stephens made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Stephens was also big at the plate, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Pike Liberal Arts got a big performance out of Haylie Brown, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Brown has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Nelson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one run.

Pike Liberal Arts is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Cottonwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-16.

As of now, neither Pike Liberal Arts nor the Bears have any future games scheduled.
