Softball Game Preview: Hicksville Aces vs. Stryker Panthers

Hicksville is a perfect 3-0 against Stryker since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Aces are taking a road trip to face off against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. The last three games Hicksville has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Hicksville will bounce into Friday's game after beating Antwerp, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Aces skirted past the Archers 4-2.

Kennedy Adams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hicksville's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mckenna Baird, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Stryker was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Holgate, falling 11-0.

Hicksville pushed their record up to 6-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs across that stretch. As for Stryker, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Hicksville was able to grind out a solid win over Stryker in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, winning 9-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Aces since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
