Basketball Recap: Hampton Takes a Loss

Hampton and Nebraska Lutheran squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Hampton had to settle for second. They fell 64-57 to the Nebraska Lutheran Knights. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Knights this season, with their most recent defeat being a 59-46 loss back in January.

Despite the loss, Hampton still got an impressive performance from Wyatt Dose, who went 9-for-20 on his way to 25 points in addition to six rebounds and four blocks. Those 25 points gave Dose a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Landen Rojewski, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 15 points.

Nebraska Lutheran's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Barrett Koontz, who went 7-for-12 en route to 14 points and eight boards. Lukas Worster was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds.

Hampton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. The win made it two in a row for Nebraska Lutheran and bumps their season record up to 9-12.

Hampton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Nebraska Lutheran, they have already played their next match, a 70-32 loss against Archangels Catholic on the 25th.
