Baseball Recap: Artesia Falls Short Against Ranked Carlsbad

Artesia faced Carlsbad in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Cavemen/Cavegirls by a score of 2-0. The match marked the first time this year in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

With the defeat, Artesia broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-6. As for Carlsbad, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Artesia is taking a road trip to take on Portales at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The game will give the Bulldogs their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Carlsbad, they will be playing at home against IDEA Rio Vista College Preparatory at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
