Baseball Game Preview: Cheatham County Central Cubs vs. Harpeth Indians

For the second straight game, Cheatham County Central will face off against Harpeth. The Cubs will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Indians at 6:00 p.m. Cheatham County Central is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

On Monday, Cheatham County Central came up short against Harpeth and fell 12-7.

For Harpeth's part, Hudson Clark made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Clark has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Charlie Wilson and Chance Ford did most of the damage at the plate: Wilson went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one stolen base, while Ford scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three RBI gave Wilson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Higgs, who went 1-for-5 with three stolen bases and one RBI.

Harpeth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Harpeth has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Cheatham County Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.
