Baseball Recap: Westmoreland Has No Trouble Against Monroe County

Westmoreland's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 16-4 margin over the Monroe County Falcons. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Aaron Freeman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Landon Carter and Grant Lilly did most of the damage at the plate: Carter scored two runs while going 4-for-4, while Lilly scored two runs while going 2-for-5. Lilly also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cooper White, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Westmoreland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monroe County only posted an OBP of .308.

Westmoreland's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Monroe County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westmoreland will face off against Portland at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Monroe County, they will square off against Russell County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
