Basketball Recap: Marion Extends Winning Streak to Four

Marion waltzed into their match on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Crossroads Charter Academy Cougars by a score of 37-28. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while the Cougars are ranked 753rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Crossroads Charter Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Harbert, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 11 points and six boards. The dominant performance also gave Harbert a new career-high in shooting accuracy (56%). Another player making a difference was Pierce Ouellette, who posted seven points in addition to six assists and five steals.

Marion's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-6. As for Crossroads Charter Academy, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marion will face off against Meridian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Crossroads Charter Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bear Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Bear Lake's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
