Softball Game Preview: Seymour Owls vs. Mitchell Bluejackets

Seymour is a perfect 4-0 against Mitchell since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Owls are taking a road trip to take on the Bluejackets at 5:30 p.m. The last four games Seymour has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Seymour and Columbus North, and Columbus North kept the tradition alive. The Owls fell just short of the Bull Dogs by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The matchup marked the Owls' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Seymour saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Followell, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Mitchell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Orleans, falling 11-1. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Bluejackets, who fell 3-1 when the teams last met back in April of 2024.

Mitchell's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Seymour, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

Everything went Seymour's way against Mitchell in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as Seymour made off with a 10-1 victory. Do the Owls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bluejackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
