West Jefferson won the last time they faced Mechanicsburg and things went their way on Friday too. The Roughriders put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 10-1 win. Considering the Roughriders have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jenna Mannon made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Hailey McBrayer was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Payton Kincade, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.
West Jefferson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mechanicsburg only posted a batting average of .174.
West Jefferson's victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Mechanicsburg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Jefferson will square off against Madison Plains at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mechanicsburg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Greeneview at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Rams will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight.
