Baseball Recap: Sequoia Gets the Win

Sequoia hadn't done well against Burlingame recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Sequoia came out on top against Burlingame by a score of 5-2. The game was the first time the Ravens have beaten the Panthers on their field since April 10, 2021.

Morgan Winfield spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Sequoia's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Abrams, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Abrams a new career-high in RBI (three). Another was Vince Olinger Giani, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Sequoia has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. Burlingame has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

Sequoia will have a chance to go back-to-back against Burlingame: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
