Basketball Game Preview: Plainview Bulldogs vs. Lubbock-Cooper Pirates

The Plainview Bulldogs will face off against the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Plainview is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Plainview is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Amarillo on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Plainview lost 72-47 to Amarillo. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Sandies are ranked seventh).

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Lubbock-Cooper sidestepped Coronado for a 44-42 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Plainview's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Lubbock-Cooper, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-12.

Plainview skirted past Lubbock-Cooper 58-55 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Will Plainview repeat their success, or does Lubbock-Cooper have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
