Baseball Recap: West Memphis Christian Has No Trouble Against Potts Camp

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Memphis Christian). They blew past the Potts Camp Cardinals 20-3 on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Black Knights with their most commanding win of the season.

Cannon Morgan made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Morgan was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Eli Ford was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of West Memphis Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

West Memphis Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

West Memphis Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. Potts Camp dropped their record down to 3-5 with the loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Memphis Christian will take on Kirby at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Potts Camp, they will challenge Horn Lake at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Horn Lake's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Potts Camp's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
