Baseball Game Preview: Piqua Indians vs. Tippecanoe Red Devils

The Piqua Indians will face off against the Tippecanoe Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Piqua's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Tippecanoe's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Friday, Piqua didn't have quite enough to beat Tippecanoe and fell 5-4. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Red Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

For Tippecanoe's part, Ethan Davis looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Davis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on James Merry, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

The win (which was Tippecanoe's third in a row) raised their record to 4-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Piqua, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
