Baseball Recap: Steel Valley Takes a Loss

Shady Side Academy hit Steel Valley with a four-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Ironmen fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-4 on Tuesday.

Logan Thomas made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Elijah Brugos, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Steel Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. As for Shady Side Academy, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11.

Looking ahead, Steel Valley will host South Allegheny at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Shady Side Academy, they are taking a road trip to square off against Deer Lakes at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
