Baseball Recap: The O'Neal School Takes a Loss

After flying high against Sandhills Classical Christian last Tuesday, The O'Neal School came back down to earth. The O'Neal School came up short against the North Moore Mustangs on Thursday, falling 14-2. The Falcons were not able to make up for their loss to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Jake Shepherd put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and 12 unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Shepherd wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joey Wade, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

The O'Neal School's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-6. As for North Moore, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-4.

Coming up, North Moore will face off against Bartlett Yancey at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Moore is facing Bartlett Yancey at the right time seeing as Bartlett Yancey is stuck on a five-game losing streak. The O'Neal School will be paying especially close attention to North Moore's match: after North Moore faces off against Bartlett Yancey, they'll take on The O'Neal School again at 4:00 p.m. on April 9.
