Baseball Game Preview: Wes-Del Warriors vs. Kokomo Wildkats

The Wes-Del Warriors will face off against the Kokomo Wildkats at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Wes-Del will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Liberty Christian on Friday. The Warriors were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Lions. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won three contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Tyler Summers was incredible, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Wes-Del is undefeated when Summers posts two or more runs, but 0-6 otherwise. Eli Sherfy also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Wes-Del always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, Kokomo entered their tilt with Muncie Central on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Bearcats. The Wildkats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on J.J. Gillespie, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI. Another player making a difference was Harry Blake, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The victory got Kokomo back to even at 4-4. As for Wes-Del, their record is now 4-6.
