Basketball Recap: Independence Takes a Loss

Independence lost against Beaumont School back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Independence Blue Devils were dealt a 57-23 defeat at the hands of the Beaumont School Blue Streaks. While the Blue Devils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Blue Streaks 11-5 in the first quarter.

It was another big night for Maria Goske, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards for Beaumont School. The dominant performance gave Goske a new career-high in rebounds. Cassidy Mcdonald was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Beaumont School, their victory bumped their record up to 6-14.

Independence and Beaumont School could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Independence will take on Trinity at 6:00 p.m. on Monday down 281 places (454 vs. 173). Meanwhile, Beaumont School (ranked 537th) will meet Padua Franciscan (ranked 122nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
