Baseball Recap: Checotah Takes a Loss

Checotah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 10-6 to the Verdigris Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-1 last Monday.

Ace Wilhite led a balanced group of hitters, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Camden Ferguson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Checotah's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Verdigris, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Checotah Wildcats challenge Central Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Verdigris, they will square off against Rejoice Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
