Soquel gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Salinas Cowboys. For the Knights, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 victory the Cowboys walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Soquel wouldn't go down easily and took Salinas into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-16, 21-25, 22-25, 16-14.

Katy Eze paced Soquel's offense, picking up 19 kills. Eze got some help from Mia Riddle and her 39 assists. Eze was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Soquel is headed away from home for the first time to take on Hillsdale at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Salinas, they will take on Harbor at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
