Football Recap: Mentor Starts Season with Win Against Olmsted Falls

Mentor had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs by a score of 35-28. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but the Cardinals were the better team in the second half.

Jackson Farley was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 366 yards and five TDs while picking up 10.5 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.

Farley was just one part of a punishing run game: Mentor was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 372 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 163 rushing yards in 11 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Coming up, Mentor is taking a road trip to square off against McDowell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Olmsted Falls, they will square off against Brunswick at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
