Basketball Game Preview: Waverly Wolverines vs. Norwich Purple Tornado

The Waverly Wolverines will face off against the Norwich Purple Tornado at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Waverly is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Tioga 84-42 on Saturday. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Norwich came up short against Seton Catholic Central on Friday and fell 87-74. The defeat continues a trend for the Purple Tornado in their matchups with the Saints: they've now lost five in a row.

Norwich's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Waverly, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.

Waverly didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Norwich in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 59-55 win. Will Waverly repeat their success, or does Norwich have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
