Volleyball Recap: Georgetown Takes a Loss

Georgetown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Lynnfield Pioneers, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Royals of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-7, 25-12.

Sophie Shaievitz was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had eight aces. Those eight aces gave her a new career-high. Katie Shrewsbury also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

Georgetown's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Lynnfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Georgetown will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Gloucester at 5:30 p.m. As for Lynnfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Pentucket Regional at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
