Basketball Recap: Avon Lake Comes Up Short

Avon Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 82-74 to the Berea-Midpark Titans. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (57), the Shoremen still had to take the loss.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Berea-Midpark to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nick Reece, who posted 17 points along with seven boards and six assists. Reece's evening made it 15 games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Vincent Weaver was another key player, going 7 for 10 from beyond the arc to rack up 21 points.

Avon Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Berea-Midpark, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Coming up, Avon Lake won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Buckeye at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Buckeye will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Avon Lake surely won't give up without a fight. As for Berea-Midpark, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll square off against Brookside at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Berea-Midpark knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 games -- so hopefully Brookside likes a good challenge.
