Softball Game Preview: Clayton-Ridge Eagles vs. West Central Blue Devils

Clayton-Ridge and West Central are an even 5-5 against one another since June of 2016, but likely not for long. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Clayton-Ridge has six straight wins, West Central has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Clayton-Ridge's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on MFL MarMac with a sharp 11-0 victory. Considering the Eagles have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, West Central came up short against South Winneshiek on Wednesday and fell 9-4.

Clayton-Ridge's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for West Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Clayton-Ridge got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in June of 2023 against West Central by a conclusive 19-3 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
