Baseball Recap: Crestview Beats Bath County for Their Fifth Straight Win

Crestview got themselves on the board against Bath County on Friday, but Bath County never followed suit. They blew past the Wildcats 12-0. That looming 12-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulldogs yet this season.

Crestview got a great performance from Landon Baggett as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jace Jernigan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Cantrell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Crestview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.

The win (which was Crestview's fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-13. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Bath County, they dropped their record down to 4-8-1 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Crestview will host Webster County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bath County, they will face off against Fleming County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
