Baseball Game Preview: Highland Tech Rams vs. Mountain Island Charter Raptors

The Highland Tech Rams will challenge the Mountain Island Charter Raptors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Things were looking good for Highland Tech after they put the first runs on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Cherryville by a score of 5-3.

Grayson Lunsford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cooper Hartis made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Mountain Island Charter came up short against Pine Lake Prep on Friday and fell 6-2.

Mountain Island Charter saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Whited, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Mountain Island Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Highland Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Highland Tech beat Mountain Island Charter 6-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2017. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raptors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
