Baseball Recap: Northwest Comes Up Short

Northwest extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-18 in the process. They came up short against the West Creek Coyote, falling 14-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 7-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for West Creek, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

For West Creek's part, the team relied heavily on Julio Perez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Perez has become a key player for the Coyote: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-14 otherwise. Donte Castro was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

While Northwest had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
