League recap: Hamilton extends winning streak with victory over Highland

Hamilton extended the longest winning streak in I Section II this week by beating Highland, 44-14. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Huskies.

Desert Ridge took down Valley Vista 48-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tarek Morrison threw for 93 yards and ran for 89 yards in the win.

Darell Garretson and Kabian Evans gave Chandler a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Garretson threw for 407 yards and four touchdowns, while Evans ran for 100 yards. Teammate Myles Smith added to the ground attack by rushing for 79 yards.

Nick Allen made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Jaguars beat the Monsoon. The 6-foot-5 defensive end recorded one fumble.

Nate Phillips was the best wideout in the league this week as Basha fell to Desert Vista. Phillips tallied 12 receptions for 147 yards. Ronnie Querry helped Basha's passing attack out by catching five balls for 96 yards.

6-foot-1 quarterback Garretson of the Wolves is the league leader in passing yards this season with 3065. He has also thrown 27 touchdowns. On the ground, Buena's Dominique Drake has rushed for 1621 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Phillips. The Basha star has 76 catches for 1223 yards.

Hamilton made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 83 from 135. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 44-14 victory over the Hawks last week.
