The University Titans are taking a road trip to challenge the Deltona Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Deltona will be up against a hot University squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Titans were the clear victors by a 16-9 margin over Flagler Palm Coast on Monday.
Makayla Palmer was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Nina Rios-Cruz also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Palmer wasn't the only one making solid contact: University kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Deltona made easy work of Seabreeze on Monday and carried off a 12-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Sandcrabs: they've now won eight in a row.
Tessa Guenette looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Amayah Jones, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Caruso, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
University pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Deltona, their record is now 11-2.
Both University and Deltona just can't seem to miss. The Titans have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Deltona struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
University skirted past Deltona 4-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
