Basketball Game Preview: University Cougars vs. Innovation Bulls

The University Cougars and the Innovation Bulls will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

University is headed into the game having just posted their closest win since January 23rd on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Colonial, sneaking past 71-68.

Kyle Bailey went supernova for University, going 6 for 12 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Hubbard, who made all 5 shots he took to post 13 points.

Meanwhile, Innovation can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They secured a 68-63 W over Crooms Academy. The Bulls' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Innovation found their leader in freshman Carlos Naranjo, who went 6 of 7 from beyond the arc on his way to 26 points and seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Naranjo has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadis Santamaria, who posted 16 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Innovation was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

University pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Innovation, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.

This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: University hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 63.2 points per game. It's a different story for Innovation, though, as they've been averaging only 39.2 points. The only thing between University and another offensive beatdown is Innovation.
