League recap: Norman North tops Eisenhower to extend winning streak

Norman North extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 3 this week by beating Eisenhower, 48-13. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.

Midwest City and Moore played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Midwest City eventually emerging with a 33-28 victory.

Norman North's dynamic duo of Peyton Gavras and Channing Meyer proved tough for the Eagles to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gavras threw for 347 yards and five touchdowns and Meyer had 133 yards receiving. Jake Higginbotham helped Norman North's passing attack out by catching six balls for 101 yards.

Jarvis Jackson was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 86 yards on 19 carries as Eisenhower beat Eisenhower. Teammate Shannon Coleman added to the ground attack by rushing for 34 yards.

The Timberwolves' Gavras and Higginbotham have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 6A District 3 in both passing and receiving yards. Gavras has thrown for 2429 yards this season, while Higginbotham, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 34 catches for 809 yards. Edmond North's Michael Farmer leads the league in rushing yards with 814.

Yukon made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,469 from 2,966. The improvement came about via a 49-21 victory over Putnam City North last week.
