Basketball Recap: Andrew Morones' Big Game Can't Quite Lead El Rancho over South El Monte

El Rancho was the 50-37 winner over South El Monte when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Dons took a 52-37 bruising from the Eagles on Friday. The game marked the Dons' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

El Rancho's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Morones, who posted ten points. Morones is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was William Soria, who had eight points.

This is the second loss in a row for El Rancho and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for South El Monte, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

El Rancho wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 64-56 victory against El Toro on the 6th. As for South El Monte, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-46 loss against Quartz Hill on the 6th.
