Basketball Game Preview: Ferguson Falcons vs. Lourdes Academy

The Ferguson Falcons will head out to face off against Lourdes Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ferguson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.

Ferguson saw some tournament action on Saturday. They blew past Donahue Catholic 56-33. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Ferguson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sophia Diaz out in front who went 6 of 15 en route to 14 points and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aunnie Stier, who posted eight points along with 15 rebounds and eight steals.

Meanwhile, Lourdes Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Mater Academy Charter back in December of 2024, taking the game 53-44.

Ferguson better keep an eye on Sophia Sandoval. She was instrumental in Lourdes Academy's win, putting up 24 points. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Sandoval has scored at least a third of Lourdes Academy's points.

Lourdes Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Ferguson, their record now sits at 9-2.

Ferguson might still be hurting after the 60-38 defeat they got from Lourdes Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Thankfully for Ferguson, Luciana Picasso (who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
