Basketball Game Preview: Destin Sharks vs. North Bay Haven Academy Buccaneers

The Destin Sharks and the North Bay Haven Academy Buccaneers will face off at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Destin will be strutting in after a victory while North Bay Haven Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Destin's tournament run continued when they took on Cornerstone Charter Academy on Friday. Destin sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 31-28 win over Cornerstone Charter Academy.

Meanwhile, North Bay Haven Academy played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 58-23 loss at the hands of North Murray. The Buccaneers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-6.

Destin will have to keep a close watch on Kaylee Goodpaster and Paicey Millirons, a pair of players who had a big impact on North Bay Haven Academy's prior game. Goodpaster posted 18 points and seven boards, while Millirons had five points and three steals. That was a full 78.3% of North Bay Haven Academy's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

North Bay Haven Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Destin, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.

Destin couldn't quite finish off North Bay Haven Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 and fell 35-32. Can Destin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
