Soccer Game Preview: Westlake vs. Bingham

The Westlake Thunder will take on the Bingham Miners at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Westlake took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Copper Hills 2-1. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but Westlake were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bingham). Their defense stepped up to hand Herriman a 5-0 shutout on Friday. Given Bingham's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah soccer rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Herriman are ranked 90th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Westlake has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those five matches. As for Bingham, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
